Titled simply as Ambientgroove.net mix 1, the new mix by freshly created mix project, Ambientgroove.net, is by far one of the most pleasant ambient efforts I have heard. Taken as a mix, this is a great one, with each track flowing fluidly to the next. The track selection is, in my opinion, excellent with a great variety of tracks focusing on an overall chilled atmosphere with ever-shifting moods. From the serene to the ominous, it’s all here. The mix also never manages to drag or get dull, whether it be bell-ish tunes chiming in the background, lush waves or even slightly garbled human conversations, it all sounds like a cohesive single experience. As with all good ambient music, it is suitable for both attentive and background listening. I personally liked how the whole mix tended towards more structured melodic tracks near the end. As for the pick from this mix, it is definitely LieberNull - Part2 by Chris Harvey at around the 52 minute mark. Overall, this is an impressive mix that invokes the sort of ephemeral contemplative feeling that no one who savours ambient music of any sort would not enjoy. This is subltle and mellow without the intense reverb-laden rush of electronic noise that this type of music usually has... where you feel uncomfortable like listening to fingernails moving slowly across a chalk board. This is NOT that at all. It is peaceful, made me feel at times like I was out in nature or in some peaceful little european village. Give it a try, I think you'll like it. Chris Harvey's definitely the highlight though for me, wickedly talented artist and currently loving his albums "The White Sail" and "Otherwake" - highly recommended, find it on iTunes.
